About last night...

Last night was our bimonthly "Waiting Mommies" dinner held at the Pickle Barrel at Yorkdale. We had about 14 or 15 mommies and 2 precious little ones (A and M). They were just TOO cute for words!

We had reservations, but apparently that meant that when we got there we had to stand in line?! The hostess was waiting for one table to clear, apparently, and that's why we had to wait around. She was a bit rude at one point and asked us to move because we were blocking the way for other people. Umm, excuse me? Whatever, once that was cleared up, we were shown to the table and had THE best waiter...ever. I'm sure you'll see his picture on other blogs later today. ;)

While we waited for our meals, I gave everyone an appetizer of Smarties with Pop Rocks in them. Michelle actually squealed with excitement. There's a bit of a story there, when we went to Batavia (Bat-ah-vee-ah) with her and Mark, we bought Pop Rocks which we both hadn't had in eons. Well, we sat in the front seat of her car, giggling like school kids, as we ate them...and Mark and Josh just kind of pretended they didn't know us faked excitement.

Our food eventually came and it was good...I tried to be good and had a salad. I know, you don't make friends with salad, but I'm trying.

During dinner, M got stuck in her high chair and she screamed and screamed. I don't think she was in any pain, I just think she wanted out but couldn't get out. In the meantime another diner came over, played with M and took off her watch and bracelet to occupy her while the waitress tried to find a pair of scissors to cut her out of the high chair. It felt like forever before she came back to the table with the scissors. Finally M was free and all was right with the world. Poor little M. :(

Later on, the girls surprised me with a piece of cake and the waiters came around and embarrassed me sang Happy Birthday. It's my birthday today...woo. Yup, I'm old. While I'm still a few years away from any kind of 'special' (HA) birthday, I'm kind of feeling it today with the wait.

Stay tuned for pics of my birthday cake later. I've got a family 'do' later this evening and we ordered a 'special' cake for it. Also look for pics of some gifty goodness from K1 and K2)...and my brand, spankin' new Furminator!

It's also my one year 'anniversary' with Nic and Tim today. One year ago today, I met them (on my birthday) for a fantastic dinner and shmooze. Nic was the first person I had *ever* met online and I don't regret it for one second. Even though we have only known each other for a year, it feels like I've known her my whole life. What a great friend she is!

Now back to packing I go...ugh.
