Everyone loves a parade! ***UPDATE***

On Sunday, after our smorgasbord of culinary delights at Kathy and Joel's on Saturday night, we headed up to a trailer on Pigeon Lake for a day of R&R. This was actually our first experience with trailer living and I have to admit, it was really nice. We had a blast spending some quality time with my mom and her friend, N, and we're looking forward to going again sometime later this summer.

It's crazy though, it seems like every weekend is already taken and we're only in the first week of July! I've never been so busy before in my life.

In the afternoon we headed into Bobcaygeon for some people watching, ice cream eating and some good ol' fashion shopping. Yes, I know, I'm a shopaholic and damn proud of it! While we were there, we watched a parade pass through the main street in town.

I left Josh to take pictures of the parade and did some more damage shoppy goodness and FINALLY found the charm bracelet that I've been looking for! I got a few charms put on it and I'll fill out the rest of it over the next X number of years we have left in this long wait for our daughter. I figure there's 14 spaces left, so I'll probably end up getting one charm every two months...hopefully 28 months from now, we'll have our referral...

(For a better view of the bracelet, click on the image. The first charm is a chai, which is the Hebrew symbol for life, the second is a cat to represent Deuce, the third is my astrological symbol - Virgo, the fourth is the at sign to represent the far too many hours I spend on the blog, and the final one is a plane to represent our (eventual) trip to China.)

We finished watching the parade, went back to the trailer for a bit and then headed out to the casino. I figured I hadn't spent enough money, so I threw fistfuls at a *($&#@(*#@ machine donated a chunk to the government there as well.

After a frustrating hour or so, we headed back to the trailer and got changed into something warmer. We sat outside while N built a bonfire in his backyard and we roasted marshmallows. I can't even remember the last time I've done that. I was trying to remember, but it was probably a good 20 years ago. Sheesh! While we were listening to the silence, I heard a loon cry. I've never heard that before, it was truly a lovely capper on the evening...

***Dolores, as soon as I got back into the car I was kicking myself for not nabbing you a bracelet too! I talked to Lisa about it, and apparently she got hers in Brampton, so you can probably poke her ask her about it.

Kathy, the next symbol that I'm going to get is Josh's astrological symbol...then our initials. Whenever we get our referral, I'll be adding our daughter's initial in between ours, as well as her astrological symbol.

I realized after I bought the Virgo symbol, that they also have the symbols for the Chinese New Year characters (ie., year of the rat, snake, etc). So I might end up getting that instead. I have so many choices...and so many months to make up my mind. I also want the Yin/Yang symbol at some point as well, though I think I'll wait until we're close to referral to get some of them (ie., baby carriage, baby, etc).***

I love the bracelet, Rhonda! I love the symbols you have chosen even more. :)
Joel and I roast marshmallows here in the house weekly. We stick one atop a chopstick and light it with a butane lighter. Yummy! Don't tell Joel's firefighter brother, though.

I really, reaally love your charm bracelet idea, Rhonda. Really. This will be more fun for me than hearing about your monthly cakez.

Rhonda,
There's a place near us that sells tons of those bracelets and charms. I can take you there if you still need one for your friend. How about doing a second bracelet for your daughter? That way you can get a charm for every month and have room to spare!

Heh - so THAT'S what you were referring to! lol...

Love the bracelet! I just wish I could stand wearing stuff on my wrists. Not sure when the aversion started... possibly after the handcuff debacle ;)

Have to love Bobcaygeon in the summer time. I have spent many hours both on and in both lakes. The G-parents bought a property near there years ago and we have enjoyed it ever since!!!
