Bye bye Miss American pie...

We decided to get a pie this month instead of our 'traditional' cake to mark (yet another) LIDiversary. Yes, it's our seventh today.

Josh called me today at noon and told me he was coming home for lunch, so I asked him to pick up a cake on the way home. He asked what kind, and I said 'something fruity', preferrably an apple crumble cake.

He went into a local bakery and asked for a fruity cake or pie and the lady behind the counter said 'Oh, let me see what I have' and pointed at a cake that said 'Happy birthday Ali' on it. Umm, birthday cake isn't quite an apple pie or cake, now is it?

He looked blankly at the lady behind the counter and said 'well, this cake was obviously made for someone...' and she said 'yes, but we can scrape off the lettering' (which is SO not the point). Stunned, Josh looked at her and said 'well what about this person who actually ordered it?' The saleslady said 'well they have until 4:00 this afternoon to pick it up.' Josh, again stared at her and said 'but it's only noon.'

Disgusted by this kind of behaviour, he walked out and headed to another bakery and got the apple pie pictured above. He came home and we did our cake lighting and cake tasting picture taking...

Memo to me: Never turn your back on a hungry cat...

Don't worry, Deuce didn't get to it...but he came VERY close.
